It is our hope that an individual or couple will feel called to work with and reach out to our (currently) small number of young people. Below is some addiitonal information. Youth Ministry Intern: Job Description Starting over: Re-invigorating a youth ministry which needs a fresh start. We need a youth ministry intern with a clear testimony of faith in Christ, energy and ability to teach, inspire, reach out to, and lead young people, a number of whom are female students of a (formerly all female boarding) local high school and women’s college, especially including foreign students. Work with small youth group with high potential for cross-cultural outreach and Christian growth for young people who currently attend church. Communicate, learn interests and commitment of parents, develop Bible Studies and outreach to high school and college age young people, especially foreign students. Plan recreational activities, service projects, and weekly meetings for high school/college age and weekly Sunday school for 6-10th grades. A big challenge and plenty of room for learning and growth. SUMMARY OF JOB We are a local church in the Fort Lauderdale, Florida area. We are currently seeking applicants for a 2010 Summer Intern Program. They would be a part of a Student Ministry that reaches over 900 students via weekend services, connect groups (small groups) and a multi-site and Internet campus. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES They would primarily be responsible to assist the Student Pastor and lead RUSH team in creating Student Ministry experience. They would be a part of a creative team designing the weekend services and summer events. They would be given the opportunity to preach the message in the student ministry on any given summer weekend. SUMMARY OF JOB We currently have openings for individuals with a passion for discipling youth. We seek energetic individuals able to relate to all types of teenage personalities in both small group and one-on-one settings. Training will be provided in the behind-the-scenes aspects necessary for a well-run ministry. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES We are looking to surround our ministry with the help needed so as not to rely on one person for all the efforts. Teamwork is crucial. As a part of the team, we will utilize the individual’s strengths as they best fit our program. Specifically, we are looking for someone in the following Ministry Team Positions: -Worship Team (worship Leader) *Description: The worship leader will be in charge of all aspects of weekly worship for all youth programs, which include but are not limited to Sunday morning and Sunday evening events. The worship leader will be in charge of picking the music, recruiting band members, organizing practice times and heading up the discipleship & training within that Worship Team. -Media/Graphic Design Team (Head Tech Guy) *Description: The media person will be in charge of all sound board/ media presentation for any event put on throughout the week. Such things would include creating the weekly Media Shout presentation for the Youth services, designing logo/posters for promotional purposes, running the soundboard/lighting for the youth events, creating monthly videos from various outreach events. Some weeks they might also be requested to run the Media Shout program for the main church service. They will also be in charge of recruiting volunteers within the church to assist them and leading them in discipleship and training within this ministry. -Assistant to Director of Youth Ministries *Description: The office assistant MUST be organized. This person will be in charge assistant the Director of Youth Ministries with weekly schedules and appointments. They will also correspond with other office management on weekly bases. They will work closely along side the Director of Youth Ministries in coordinating different aspects of monthly and yearly outreach events. Such activities will include booking facilities, gathering material, contacting parents via email and phone call, and other logistics that go along with such things (Note: All Interns alongside their specific role will be in charge of a weekly small group as the need grows. Small groups consist of a group of guys or girls of no more than ten people who meet weekly have Bible study in more of a discipleship setting than the larger groups. Curriculum is provided to lesson preparation time for leaders. Ultimately these positions exist for the mutual benefit of Galilee Church and the intern. Galilee Church receives an individual who can offer their own set of skills, knowledge, interests, and passions to support and enhance our youth ministry. In turn, the intern receives the opportunity to learn and practice ministry in a safe and nurturing environment.) QUALIFICATIONS 1. A Christian committed to Christ and the church as the Body of Christ. 2. A lifestyle that reflects an authentic commitment to Christ and one that can be modeled for youth. 3. Jubilee was founded in 1999 in response to the community's overwhelming need for a program that would target at-risk youth, leading them away from lives of crime and drugs, and, instead, offer them programs and services to help develop their academic and social skills. Jubilee was established to engage at-risk children in our most populated and impoverished neighborhoods in the greater Lynchburg area with safe, structured and fun activities. What We Do: Jubilee provides year-round programming, with offerings in educational enrichment and academic assistance; athletics; and, technical and vocational awareness and training aimed at enhancing the Region 2000 workforce through its Occupational Outreach Center. Every day Jubilee programs and volunteers are keeping young people off the streets, leading them into futures filled with hopes and goals. They are loved, tutored, mentored, challenged, and motivated as they strive to overcome many obstacles. Along with programs for youth, Jubilee also provides much needed family development services. Our mission is to provide high quality programs that foster personal, social, and spiritual growth and the stability of families. How You Can Help: Currently, the following volunteers are needed: • Individual with graphic arts experience to help develop an updated Jubilee marketing brochure; • Photographer to take pictures of the Jubilee experience to be posted around the Center and on the website (and possibly to be included in the marketing brochure); • Individual to help with data entry and other miscellaneous computer work; • Individual with IT experience to help with the Center’s technical needs; • Individual to help with the website. This includes monitoring the website to determine what updates are needed and relay that information to the web designer; • Tutors / “study buddies” for the after school program (3:30pm – 6pm). No teaching experience is necessary; • Individual to help with our PR and Marketing efforts – we are always looking for ways to let others know more about Jubilee and the difference it is making in our community. No experience is necessary; • Volunteers to assist during summer camp to help with established athletic and academic camps lasting one week each. Volunteer opportunities include tutoring, coaching, chaperoning and assisting campers during free activities, meal and snack time. Tutors for SOL enrichment camp also needed. Volunteers are also invited to share their hobbies and professions while camp is in session; • Volunteers (this includes children) to participate in Butter Braid fundraising. Butter braids are delicious, home-made, hand-braided butter pastries that can be frozen until you are ready to bake and serve – they taste home-made and look it too!; • Volunteers to help man the 5K race on March 21st to benefit Jubilee and James River Day School; • Steering committee members for special events, including the annual Steeplechase at Oak Ridge.  The Steeplechase is our annual fundraiser – a family day of fun at the historic Oak Ridge Estate in Nelson County, including top notch horse racing, a variety children’s activities, exciting terrier races and shopping opportunities. This year’s race will be held on Sunday, October 25th, with a kick-off Gala the evening prior.
